Student work
Livia Stetson
Built her semester arc around the LA section of Passing Strange, threading the same set of choices from the Lines project all the way through her Painting with Light treatment. Captions below are pulled from her reflection statements.

Most people went for Berlin's roughness or Amsterdam's creativity, but in this story LA was bland and the lead felt his creativity being stunted. The mountain signifies the start of his journey; the pedestal's scaling pillars carry the anxiety of being pulled in different directions. The metallic silver in the center is his creative flame, and the cotton balls show his future felt cloudy and unknown.

Look 1: alternate angle. The visible source in the upper right is one of the lab fixtures she gelled R363. -
Color keys: R363 (blue) and E316 (warm). She labeled each swatch with its gel number on the bottom edge. -
Look 2: a single gobo'd cyc light from above and two cool blues from stage left. Dark and isolated, but hopefully on its way out.
I narrowed the front light onto the silver torch and brought out the flecks of color, with R363 blue from the back corner and warm E316 sweeping the pillars. The youth had one thing keeping him going, and that was his creative flame.

2024
Jacob Anderson
Built his semester arc around Berlin and the rock-concert energy of the show. His final scenic design pitched a thrust stage with raised musician platforms, a flyable main drape, and a projection screen behind the band, aiming to recreate the feeling of a live rock concert.
