About the Lighting Design

The Buffalo Kings was a world premiere of a new play by Natalie Simons at freeFall. A realistic house interior, grounded in naturalism throughout.

The rig was significant for freeFall: this was one of the first shows after the company replaced its older inventory with newer Source Fours. The design got to take advantage of a cleaner, more reliable conventional package. Practical sources inside the house, window light shifting through the day, time-of-day and season cues doing most of the storytelling work.

About the Show

A touching and often fiercely funny coming-of-age comedy by St. Petersburg playwright Natalie Symons. The deeply dysfunctional, uniquely vibrant King family gather at Christmas, trying to heal in the wake of a hate crime. World premiere at freeFall Theatre Company, January 17 – February 8, 2015.
