About the Show
Tracy Letts's play centers on the relationship between Arthur Przybyszewski, a disillusioned former 1960s radical who owns a rundown donut shop in Chicago's Uptown, and Franco, his energetic young African American assistant who wants to update the shop with lively music and healthy options. Arthur has just had to fire his only employee, vandals have spray-painted his storefront, his neighbor Max is desperate to buy him out, and the death of his ex-wife still haunts him. The unlikely friendship that forms between Arthur and Franco changes both men's perspectives on the past and the future.

Director Ron Bobb-Semple deftly modulates the comic comings and goings in Arthur's donut shop and the quieter moments when Arthur talks directly to the audience, lit sensitively by Mike Wood.
