About the Lighting Design
The Wonderland Opening Gala at the Straz Center was the world-premiere opening night for the show, and I was originally hired as a design intern. Within days of starting, the producer pulled me aside and asked me to light the gala itself.
The design transformed the Straz Center lobby into a Wonderland-style world: color, texture, projected imagery on architectural surfaces that weren’t designed to receive light at all. The lobby became part of the show before the audience even reached the theater.
