To reflect on the creative, innovative moments of 2020 and to welcome the hope that the New Year brings, Live Design is conducting 31 Days Of Plots. Every day during the month of December 2020, we will highlight a different lighting design, from across theatre, concert tours, corporate events, and more.
Lighting designer Mike Wood shares the plots for City Springs Theatre Company’s production of A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder directed by Brandt Blocker. “Gentleman’s Guide was a fun challenge,” says Wood. “Something like 20 different locations all happening on a tiny stage in rapid succession. Lighting and video were key in helping to define all of those spaces for the audience. We squeezed instruments into just about any available space we could find, including 15 units in the header of the ‘toy stage’ alone!” 4Wall Nashville supplied the lighting equipment.
